Belinda Martínez analysis Ubisoft’s values and purpose in the Chair Breakfast

The UIC Barcelona Chair for Management by Missions and Corporate Purpose has begun another edition of the Chair Breakfasts, with a session by Belinda Martínez, People Operations Director at Ubisoft Barcelona Mobile

In this new edition of the Chair Breakfasts, the session was led by Belinda Martínez under the title “Company values: From myth to reality.”

Ubisoft is a company that develops video game and employs more than 2000 employees worldwide. Belinda explained that “Ubisoft employees are the soul of the project, those in charge of making the organisation’s dreams come true” and explained that the company promotes a workspace where employees can develop, grow and feel at ease.

In 2019, the management team considered it necessary to define what Ubisoft’s values were and implement them throughout the organisation. According to the speaker, they did this through a communication plan in which they addressed the strategy, processes, tools and the cultural aspect.

Subsequently, the management team and employees together addressed the organisation’s values in workshops stressing the importance of caring for people, being responsible, playing and sharing with others. Since then, every year they evaluate different actions and values to achieve excellence.

Belinda Martínez concluded that it was essential for Ubisoft to define values that have allowed them to build a business project on a solid foundation. “Values define the purpose, the essence of the company, help make decisions and face moments of crisis,” she said.

The Chair Breakfasts are monthly meetings that encourage reflection on purpose and business among scholars and managers and are promoted by the Chair for Direction by Missions and Corporate Purpose at UIC Barcelona.
